About TRIPNNEST

We got tired of trips thatlooked good in photos andfelt rushed in person.

TRIPNNEST started as a shared notes document between three friends who kept fielding the same question — "where did you actually stay?" — and decided to write it all down properly.

Our story

Started with a spreadsheet, still runs on the same principle

In 2019, our founder Naina was planning a trip to Petra for the fourth time — this time for a friend rather than herself — and realised she'd been giving the same corrections to every glossy guide she found online: wrong opening times, outdated permit rules, camps that had quietly changed hands and gone downhill. She started keeping a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet became a blog. The blog became TRIPNNEST.

The rule has stayed the same since day one: nothing goes on the site until someone from the team has actually been. That's slower than most travel content operations, and it's also why people keep coming back to double-check a date before they book.

Our promise

What we won't do

We don't take payment to feature a destination, camp or hotel, and we don't run affiliate content dressed up as a recommendation. If something's on the site, it's because we'd send our own family there.

How we've grown

From a shared spreadsheet to a full trip-design studio

2019

The spreadsheet becomes a blog

The first ten guides go up, covering Petra, Marrakech and the Swiss Alps — the three trips Naina had planned most often for friends.

2021

Regional leads join

Theo and Yuki come on to cover Africa/Middle East and Asia-Pacific respectively, each spending months on the ground building relationships with camps and guides directly.

2023

Trip design launches

What started as free guides becomes a full planning service — readers could now hand off the logistics entirely, not just the research.

2026

Today

A four-person core team, a growing network of vetted stays across 34 countries, and the same one rule from the spreadsheet days: go first, write second.

How we research

Go first, write second

Every guide on TRIPNNEST goes through the same four steps before a reader ever sees it.

Step 1

Go in person

Someone from the team travels there, stays there and eats there. No desk research standing in for a visit.

Step 2

Check the details

Opening times, permit rules, who runs the camp now. The facts glossy guides get wrong are the ones we check first.

Step 3

Write it plainly

When to go, what to skip and how to book, in plain language, with the crowded hour and the honest trade-offs left in.

Step 4

Fix what changes

Prices, permits and camps change. When a reader tells us something is out of date, we go back and correct the guide.

What we believe

Four ideas behind every guide

They aren't slogans. They're the rules we check each story against.

Go first, write second

Nothing goes on the site until someone from the team has actually been. It is slower, and it is why readers trust a date before they book.

Slow beats rushed

A good trip leaves room to wander. We plan around fewer stops, better days and time to linger, not a checklist of photos.

Honest over glossy

We tell you the wrong opening time, the crowded hour and the camp that went downhill. The details a glossy guide skips are the ones that save your trip.

Independent, always

We don’t take payment to feature a destination, camp or hotel, and we don’t run affiliate content dressed up as a recommendation.

The people

Who's behind the guides

A four-person core team. Here are three of the people you'll meet in our story.

N

Naina

Founder

Started the spreadsheet in 2019 after planning a trip to Petra for the fourth time, and turned it into TRIPNNEST.

T

Theo

Africa & Middle East lead

Joined in 2021 and spent months on the ground building relationships directly with camps and guides.

Y

Yuki

Asia-Pacific lead

Joined in 2021 to cover Asia-Pacific, with the same approach: go, stay, and write only what has been checked.

Common questions

Things readers ask us

Do you take payment to feature a place?

No. We don't take payment to feature a destination, camp or hotel, and we don't run affiliate content dressed up as a recommendation.

Has the team really been to every place you write about?

That's our one rule: nothing goes on the site until someone from the team has actually been.

Can you plan a whole trip for me?

Yes. Since 2023 we've offered trip design, so you can hand off the logistics entirely and not just the research. Start from our Contact page.

Are the guides on the blog free to read?

Yes. TRIPNNEST began with free guides, and they are still the heart of the site. Browse them on the travel blog.

How do I tell you something is out of date?

Please write to us through the Contact page. Opening times, permits and prices change, and reader notes help us fix them.

Where should I start?

Pick a place on the destinations page, or read a few stories on the travel blog to see how we write.

Ready when you are

Let's plan a trip that doesn't feel rushed.

Tell us where you're dreaming of going, and a trip designer will write back with ideas that have actually been tested on the ground.
